David Price: Movin' Out West? UPDATE 7/29 12:35pm

David Price tweeted Sunday night, indicating a possible movement from the Tigers.

Update 7/29 12:35pm:

The Tigers are sellers, and its official. Prepare for an all out war.

Update 2/28 2:00pm

Mixed emotions have come out about price being moved, some executives thinking that there is no way the Dodgers don't get either Price or Hamels (via DodgersNation), and some executives believing the Tigers have no intention on selling Price. (via Joel Sherman). As of right now, nobody is sure on the status of David Price and if he will get traded. Dodgers GM Farhan Zaidi always says that information is king, and the Tigers, as well as the Dodgers, are very tight lipped as of right now. Check back for updates.

That sure sounds like a man who was just told he is going to be dealt.

Price has endured trade rumors for the last few years, however, now, they may be coming to fruition, with the Tigers struggling to stay over .500. Before the start of this season, the Tigers were thought of as one of the favorites in a talented American League Central. However, a disastrous 11-1 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday puts the Tigers 11.5 games out of first place and 4.0 games out of a wild card spot, and they may be looking to sell, and selling now on Price would only make sense, in order to get maximum value for him. He is making $19,750,000 this season and is set to enter free agency after this season -- which he seemed pretty excited about.

During a Fox Sports interview before the All Star break, he quoted, "I want to win. I want to win now. I want to win for a long time. I want to be a part of something special. If that opportunity opens itself up to me, I would appreciate it." (Speaking on Free Agency)

Price owns a 2.31 ERA this season, and has racked up 134 strikeouts in 140 innings pitched. This has been one of Price's best seasons, only truly falling short to his 2012 Cy Young campaign.

Los Angeles, because of their glut of minor league talent, large spending ability, and expressed need for another starting pitcher, remains one of the most likely landing spots for Price. The addition of Price would surely strengthen the Dodgers rotation, solidifying it as one of the best, if not the best in all of baseball. After a rough first outing from Dodger prospect Zach Lee, and Carlos Frias still injured, David Price sure does look like the best option.

The trade deadline is this Friday, July 31st at 1:00pm Pacific time, and time is ticking for the Dodgers to add another starter. Could it be Price? Keep checking BLUEVIEW for updates.

Update 7/27 2:35pm

Tigers president has announced that as of right now, the Tigers are buyers, and are doing everything they can to make the playoffs. This doesn't immediately take them out of the race though, as this upcoming series in Tampa could be the deciding factor on whether or not Price becomes available.
