Update 7/28 2pm: Carlos Frias, while struggling, felt perfectly healthy in his rehab outing. He is expected to make one more rehab start before rejoining the major league squad.
Check back for updates.
Carlos Frias began his DL stint on July 1st with lower back tightness. This issue has been prevalent all year for him, but it is something he has worked through. This time however, it was too much to cope with. After a minor setback beginning on July 21st, He has fully recovered from the stiffness and began his rehab assignment on Sunday with Rancho Cucamonga.
Frias was originally set to throw 50 pitches in his Sunday start; He only ended up throwing 24. He was pulled after allowing 2 runs on three hits and two walks over 2/3 of an inning pitched. No further injury was reported, but the question remains of whether or not he can return to what he was earlier this season. An MRI revealed no structural damage to his back, so there shouldn't be any major worries. If not, Friedman and Co. should begin looking for another option to sure up the rotation.
Carlos Frias is 5-5 with a 4.39 ERA over a career high 69.2 innings. Check back to BLUEVIEW for updates on Frias's condition, as well as the state of the Dodgers!
