This deadline, like the last, is a chance for teams to deal players and acquire others, just utterly more complicated. The "non waiver trade deadline" was simple, just teams negotiating to trade players for other players, often with money and draft picks included. The "waiver trade deadline," adds another layer of sophistication. Here is how it works:

Carlos Frias Struggles Mightily In Rehab Stint Update: 7/28 2:00pm
Update 7/28 2pm: Carlos Frias, while struggling, felt perfectly healthy in his rehab outing. He is expected to make one more rehab start before rejoining the major league squad.
Check back for updates.
Carlos Frias began his DL stint on July 1st with lower back tightness. This issue has been prevalent all year for him, but it is something he has worked through. This time however, it was too much to cope with. After a minor setback beginning on July 21st, He has fully recovered from the stiffness and began his rehab assignment on Sunday with Rancho Cucamonga.
Frias was originally set to throw 50 pitches in his Sunday start; He only ended up throwing 24. He was pulled after allowing 2 runs on three hits and two walks over 2/3 of an inning pitched. No further injury was reported, but the question remains of whether or not he can return to what he was earlier this season. An MRI revealed no structural damage to his back, so there shouldn't be any major worries. If not, Friedman and Co. should begin looking for another option to sure up the rotation.
Carlos Frias is 5-5 with a 4.39 ERA over a career high 69.2 innings. Check back to BLUEVIEW for updates on Frias's condition, as well as the state of the Dodgers!
David Price: Movin' Out West? UPDATE 7/29 12:35pm

David Price tweeted Sunday night, indicating a possible movement from the Tigers.
Price owns a 2.31 ERA this season, and has racked up 134 strikeouts in 140 innings pitched. This has been one of Price's best seasons, only truly falling short to his 2012 Cy Young campaign. The addition of Price would surely strengthen the Dodgers rotation, solidifying it as one of the best, if not the best in all of baseball. After a rough first outing from Dodger prospect Zach Lee, and Carlos Frias still injured, David Price sure does look like the best option.
The trade deadline is this Friday, July 31st at 1:00pm Pacific time, and time is ticking for the Dodgers to add another starter. Could it be Price? Keep checking BLUEVIEW for updates.
